Josh's Letter to The Scribe

Dear Editor,
Earlier this semester I arrived on campus around noon. After driving in circles for about 20 minutes searching for a ridiculously overpriced parking spot, I parked in the garage. I then trekked to the bookstore to pick up some books for class. After wandering past a few of those insulting price comparison signs I found what I was looking for and proceeded to the check-out to be violated. The checker gave me a reassuring smile as she emptied my bank account, and I left the store feeling hosed, but reassured. Afterward, I felt like blowing off some steam and went looking for a fun campus event at which to unwind. However, like most days on campus there was nothing going on, and I just went home.

This story is a common reality for many students at UCCS, and on the current path it will only get worse before it gets better. Parking fees are set to increase significantly next semester, the bookstore will continue to price-gouge and insult our intelligence, and campus events will remain sparse.

Motivated by these problems, I have decided to run for the Student Government Association as a candidate for Vice President. If elected, my running mate and I will work to stop the increases in parking fees, and put an end to the price gouging at the bookstore. Furthermore in order to stimulate a more active and fun student community we plan to establish an incentive program to motivate clubs to organize and host campus events. This election is crucial for the students, and they have to make a choice. They can either choose more of the same, or they can choose to elect an executive pair that will fight for their best interests and work to save them money while promoting a more active campus, Williams and Green
